Environmental Scientist/Construction Code Compliance Officer

LTL Consultants, LTD., in business for 25 years in southeastern, PA, has full time job openings for entry-level Environmental Scientists or Construction Compliance Officers. The position is entry level in nature for candidates interested in a career paths toward Soil Scientists, Pennsylvania Certified Sewage Enforcement Officers or Pennsylvania Certified Uniform Construction Code Building Inspectors. Training will be provided to assist candidates with preparation for certification exams.

Essential Duties:

  • Plan and execute fieldwork
  • Ability to describe soils for both stormwater and structural soil investigations.
  • Responsible for equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Provide regular reports on work progress and contribute to work plans and various reports.
  • Ability to complete reports in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for the preparation and publication of items.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
  • Aggressively prepare for certification exams.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in an environmental, geography, engineering, public administration or planning program (or related field)
  • 3-5 years’ experience with Soil Classification Systems.
  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.
  • Familiarity and experience in completing field permeability tests.
  • Knowledge of construction practices as well as inspection protocols, inspection experience is preferred.
  • Must have well developed organizational, analytical, planning and communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Able to perform physical field work that includes walking through dense brush, digging and carrying equipment.

Strong emphasis is placed on the ability to effectively communicate technical information, orally and in writing, in a professional manner to contractors, developers, property owners, employees, consultants, other governmental agency representatives, municipal officials and the general public. Skill is required with reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans, specifications and contract documents.
